Marvellous late 19th century compendium of poetry, song with many fine B&W period appealing images. Nicely illustrated gift book of mainly poetry. Handsome frontispiece engraving of William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878), American romantic "Fireside poet," journalist, and editor of the New York Evening Post.
Solid, tight, clean copy with remarkably bright and clean pages, plates, and devices. Overall moderate wear to cloth, which remains quite clean, withage- typical edge- and corner-wear. Previous owner's light pencil gift inscription [eraseable] dated "Aug '74" on a front endpaper. Clear plastic jacket added for protection.
