Rasipuram Krishnaswami Narayanaswami (1906 - 2001) was an Indian writer known for his work set in the fictional South Indian town of Malgudi. In his fictionalization of small town life, he has been compared to Faulkner. Narayan was a leading author of early Indian literature in English along with Mulk Raj Anand and Raja Rao.

Malgundi Days is a collection of short stories set in the South Indian village of Malgundi. It was first published in 1942 by India Thought Publications.
