John Keith Stanford OBE MC (1892 – 1971) was a British civil servant who worked in Burma and wrote several books on sport, humour, and natural history.
Bledgrave Hall was his fifth book; second involving bird conservation. It deals with post-World War II experiences of a POW environmental hero who protects avocets nesting in a marsh.
A. M. Hughes was a British illustrator familiar with East Anglia and its marshes.
