Catherine "Kate" Greenaway (1846 – 1901) was an esteemed English Victorian artist and writer, known for her charming and much loved children's book illustrations. Her depictions of lovely children in imaginary 18th-century costumes in a Queen Anne style were extremely popular in England and internationally, sparking the Kate Greenaway style.
SCARCE title made doubly so by its Very Good Condition. Early printing with "G" upside down on covers. Tight copy with light-to-moderate age-toning and moderate soil. Colors of covers have darkened with time. Greenaway pictures are quiet clean and bright. Schuster & Engen 140 (1d); Thomson 138b.
