CALDICOTT HONOR BOOK. One of my favorite illustrators has here created another beautiful and highly informative book about Galileo.

Peter Sis, born in Czechoslovakia in 1949, is an illustrator, author, film maker, and three-time winner of Caldecott awards, the HansChristian Andersen Award (2012) for books, and the Gold Bear for a short film.

Galileo de Galilei (1564 - 1642).was an Italian astronomer, physicist and engineer, sometimes described as "the father of observational astronomy." Among discoveries in physics, Galileo studied speed and velocity, gravity and free fall; in astronomy, he confirmed the phases of Venus; identified the four largest satellites of Jupiter; Saturn's rings; and studied sunspots.

EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION internally & externally! A tiny nick at 12 on the Caldecott Silver seal. No remainder marks.
