S[arvepalli] Radhakrishnan (1888 – 1975) was a prominent Indian philosopher, academic, and statesman who served as the first Vice President of India (1952–1962) and the second President of India (1962–1967). He was one of India's most distinguished twentieth-century scholars of comparative religion and philosophy--especially Hinduism.

Radhakrishnan was a representative of Hinduism, India, and the East to the West.

The second volume of Indian Philosophy led to Professor Radhakrishnan becoming party to legal action based on charges of plagiarism by the Bengali philosopher Jadunath Sinha--later resolved out of court.

VERY SCARCE copies from The Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. Usual library stamps, bookplates front pastedown, markings, and slips. Tatty and frayed copies of this highly important work for reading and study.

Significant fraying to both backstrips which have been imperfectly reattached. The sewing of both volumes remains good; no internal annotations; light uniform age-toning to thin paper.

Overseas' shipping charges due to books' weight and combined size will need to be computed.

Price: $50.00
