John Biguenet is a distinguished writer, playwrite, editor, and professor who has published several collections, plays, and novels such as his most popular book, Oyster, and The Torturer's Apprentice, which has been widely translated.

His work has received an O. Henry Award for short fiction, and a Harper's Magazine Writing Award among other distinctions.
