English-born, American novelist and playwright Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) created memorable characters and an entrancing setting in her classic, The Secret Garden.
Burnett also wrote two other famous "children's" classics: Little Lord Fauntleroy (1885-86) and A Little Princess (1905). She maintained a lovely rose garden in Maytham Hall in Kent, which provided inspiration for her book's secret garden set in Yorkshire.
Very Fine copy apart from a wee bump to the upper right corner of the front cover and corresponding minute edgewear to its dj's corner. No previous owners' or remainder marks.
