Hendrik Willem van Loon (1882-1944) was a prolific, multi-talented, very patriotic and sagacious Dutch-American historian, journalist, and award-winning children's book author with a wonderful command of history.
THE SONGS WE SING (1936) was the second of a special children's series that commenced with Around the World with the Alphabet (1935).
SCARCE in such a solid, clean copy (published in the same year as the first printing). Its text and illustrations are clean, unfoxed, and uniformly lightly age-toned. The bright and remarkably clean dust jacket (unclipped) has age-toning, some wear and minor losses to its edges (main;y splitting and nicks to bottom of dj's spine).
