Joseph Belcher, D.D. was a distinguished Baptist minister who was born at Birmingham, England, April 5,1794, settled in the United States, and died July 10th, 1859. George Whitefield (1714 – 1770), also spelled Whitfield, was an English Anglican cleric and evangelist who was one of the founders of Calvinistic Methodism and the Evangelical movement. Closely associated with John Wesley, whom he followed to Georgia in 1738.

Solid copy with firm text block. Cloth has fading and wear (mainly to the head, gutters, and foot of the spine); corners are slightly bumped. Pages and endpapers are uniformly a medium brown but not brittle or chipping. Offset from engraved frontispiece of Whitefield affecting tissue guard and title page (see image). No previous ownership markings.
