Award-winning Michael Pearce (born 1933) was raised in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan and has had a great range of experience ever since. His first novel, The Mamur Zapt and the Return of the Carpet (1988) was the start of the fascinating "Mamur Zapt" series of mysteries.
He has also published "A Dead Man in..." mysteries, set in before the First World War which feature Sandor Seymour, an officer of Scotland Yard's Special Branch who ideals with crimes affecting the British diplomatic service.
