Rudolf von Bitter Rucker (born 1946) is an American mathematician, computer scientist, science fiction author, and one of the founders of the cyberpunk literary movement. The author of both fiction and non-fiction, he is best known for the novels in the Ware Tetralogy, the first two of which (Software and Wetware) both won Philip K. Dick Awards.
In a tribute to Edwin Abbott Abbott's Flatland (1884), a classic mathematical fantasy about a universe of several dimensions, Rudy Rucker's SPACELAND describes the life of Joe Cube, a Silicon Valley hotshot who discovers the fourth dimension from an unexpected visitation from Momo, a woman from 4D.
