Errol Le Cain (1941 – 1989) was a British animator and children's book illustrator. He won the 1984 Kate Greenaway Medal for Hiawatha's Childhood (Faber and Faber). The Pied Piper of Hamelin may have been his final creation.

Sara Corrin is a published author, editor, and a translator of children's books. Her brother, the author Stephen Corrin’s most popular book is The Forge and the Crucible.

The Pied Piper of Hamelin is based on an old German legend from Hameln in Lower Saxony. The Piper pipes the village free of rats, and when the villagers refuse to pay for his service, he exacts a terrible revenge.
