Arnold Toynbee, CH, FBA (1889 – 1975) was a British historian, philosopher of history, author of numerous books and research professor of international history. He is best known for his 12-volume A Study of History (1934–1961).

Daisaku Ikeda (born 1928) is a Buddhist philosopher, educator, author, and nuclear disarmament advocate. He is the founding president of the Soka Gakkai International, the world's largest Buddhist lay organization.
