James Jones (1921 – 1977) was an American novelist best known for his novels about World War II. He won the 1952 National Book Award for his first novel, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1951).
The novel became a 1953 blockbuster American romantic film that won 8 Academy Awards. It was directed by Fred Zinnemann, and written by Daniel Taradash. It dealt with the emotions of three U.S. Army soldiers, played by Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, and Frank Sinatra, who were stationed on Hawaii prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Deborah Kerr and Donna Reed portrayed the women in their lives.
Condition: Tight, clean internally, slight age-toning. Dust jacket is remarkably complete and quite bright with slgiht soil and edges slightly roughened and age-toned. Essentially a movie tie-in, most of such copies have become tatty.
