Attractive Grosset & Dunlop inexpensive edition of the first Harper & Brothers edition of 1921.
These inexpensive G&D editions used the same plates as the first edition, and the author accepted a reduced royalty. Most were heavily used and abused, so to find a copy like this one with such a superior dust jacket and clean, tight contents is noteworthy and highly collectible.
Zane Grey (1872 – 1939) was an American dentist-turned-author best known for his popular adventure novels, juvenile adventures such as The Young Lion Hunter, and Westerns. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book. In addition to the commercial success of his books, many were even more popular as films and television productions.
