Foundation's Edge was the fourth novel in Isaac Asimov's Foundations Series. It was written more than thirty years after the original Foundation trilogy. It was his first novel to ever be listed on The New York Times best-seller list, after 262 books and 44 years of writing. Foundation's Edge won both the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1983, and the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel in 1983. It was also nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1982.

Isaac Asimov (1920–1992) was an American writer of science fiction and popular science and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. A prolific writer, he wrote or edited more than 500 books. Along with Robert A. Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke, he is considered one of the "Big Three" science fiction writers.
