LINCOLN & HERNDON

New York Cedar Rapids, Iowa: The Torch Press, Publishers, 1910. Engravings. First Edition. Decorated & gilt-stamped cloth. Small 4to, blind-ruled dark green cloth with gilt spine lettering & gilt-embossed sign for "Lincoln & Herndon" on front cover, B&W frontispiece engraving (tissue guard) and 3 in-text similar illustrations (also tissue guards), top page edges gilded [t.e.g.], [xviii] + 367 pages. Weight: 1 lb. 15.3 oz. Near Fine / Good +. Item #1453

Remarkable to find this book in such a good and unclipped dust jacket. The copy is tight; cloth, paper, illustrations, and dj bright. Gilt on cover quite bright. The jacket has only a few peripheral chips (upper right front & rear panels) and a clean 1.5" tear on the front cover. Small bump to lower corner of rear cover. No other marks by previous owners.

A thorough study of the crucial legal practice that helped form young Abraham Lincoln and enabled him to rise in the political establishment. Also an excellent discussion of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates as well as the perceptions Herndon and Lincoln had of each other.

T'would make an excellent gift for an attorney or Lincoln buff.

Price: $55.00
