THE RIVER AMAZON; From Its Sources to the Sea

London: Constable & Company Ltd., 1914. Photographs. First Edition. Cloth. 8vo, tan cloth with embossed blue-&-tan cover sketch of the author on a burrow, frontispiece & 15 B&W glossy photographs by Underwood & Underwood, xi + 321 pages PLUS the large folding map of "The Amazon River" (no tears). Very Good + / None. Item #1311

By the intrepid, "tough" author of The Great Forests and Mountains of South America. The author travelled down most of the Amazon and does a fine job of recording his experiences and observations.

Published as World War I broke out.

Excellent tight and bright copy with no foxing to the fine glossy black & white photos, and the large folding map (no tears). I haven't fully unfolded the map in order to avoid any potential damage, but one can see it is very long.
Very slight rubbing to the cloth & a few ripples (what else? :).

Price: $45.00
