A lovely keepsake volume with extravagant high Victorian decorations, embellishments that is filled with lofty sentiments and quotations by notables.
No date specified or copyright information; a reprint of this 1880ish edition. A few variants of this charming gilt embellished edition were produced: some with silver trim (not gold as ours); or an angel inset on the front cover's center in lieu of flowers in vase; brown decorative cloth instead of green; an enlarged frame on front cover but no small quarter-sized medalions at its corners.
Condiiton: Solid copy with unsullied glossy pages (lightly age-toned), bright gilt and colors, light wear with corners slightly rubbed. Rear blind-stamped green cover in remarkably unworn condition though corners and head and foot of spine have some wear. Previous owner's inscriptions on front endpapers dated 1886. Some splitting of black coated endpapers along the hinge.
